I strongly suspect that this will be a bad week for me in terms of weight loss. I suspect this because I've cheated over the weekend and gotten on the scale. And I gained some over the weekend. This morning I was back down to almost where I was at weigh-in last week. So really? Anything I manage to eke out between today and tomorrow's eating and exercising will be icing as I've already lost about 4 pounds from the weekend.

It's frustrating, but all I can do is keep plugging along and remember that the weight didn't come on overnight, so it won't go off overnight. And also that one bad week doesn't mean I have to throw in the towel.

I'm also learning to listen to my body and what it wants and needs. Like tonight, I had a chicken caesar salad. Yes, that's more fat than I've had in a while, but I knew my body needed lettuce and the protein in the chicken. I was fully aware of what I was doing (and I didn't put on ALL the dressing...I just can't eat plain lettuce yet; I'm still training myself), but I knew that if I went with just yogurt and maybe a little peanut butter rolled in a whole wheat tortilla, the odds of me cheating and ending up eating a lot more would have dramatically increased. So I went with what my body was telling me it wanted. Given that it wasn't a big mac or something, I'm thinking that it's learning what it NEEDS as opposed to what it WANTS, so I'm taking that as a good sign.

Once I get the cookbook I'm planning to get, it will be better - I'm going to be better about making stuff rather than buying pre-packaged foods (even pre-packaged from Trader Joe's). But I'm still proud that I'm learning to listen to my body and what it NEEDS.
